4CC #402 Polished Stone Twist

It's Thursday, WOW!

The weeks are just zooming by!

It's time for a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!
I'm hosting and I chose an old technique as the Twist this week,
the polished stone technique with alcohol inks.

I spent an afternoon playing around with this technique and ended up with many backgrounds.  This was one of my favorites. It reminds me of the ocean.  I used the wave dies from My Favorite Things and cut a second set out of gold vellum so each layer would stand out.

Make sure and stop by the Hen House and check out the rest of the chicks' beautiful projects!  Everyone did an awesome job with the polished stone technique!  Then come play with us either with our regular ATG or try out the Polished Stone Twist!

Card Supplies:
STAMPS: Mermaid's Tail (Essentials by Ellen); Sentiment from Ocean Wisdom (Stampendous).
PAPER: Neenah Solar White 110 lb; Yupo paper; Gold Vellum.
INK: Versamark. Fiesta Blue (Catherine Pooler); Patina, Sailboat Blue, Aquamarine and Gold Mixative Alcohol Inks (Tim Holtz).
EXTRAS: Gold Emboss Powder (Wow); Wave emboss folder (Stampin'Up); Wave die (My Favorite Things); Gold sequins (Michaels).

Yay! It's Your Birthday!

Happy Tuesday!

I keep forgetting to post this. Sharing a birthday card I made for our youngest's 24th birthday last month.  I have some alcohol inked backgrounds screaming to be used so I took one and used it along with the Yay dies by Ellen Hutson.

CAS Christmas Card Challenge - May 2018 - Snowman

Hello again!
It's a beautiful sunny warm day here in central NC.
We are experiencing a bit of a heat wave presently,
so it feels more like July.
At least the humidity is down and the pollen is gone!
My head is grateful!

With that said, there's a "cool" challenge starting today over at
Susan is our hostess this month
and
Snowman is the theme.

I do have a few snowmen stamps/dies and I chose to use one I've had for a long time but have never used, one of those NBUS or rather NBUD (never before used die) from Paper Smooches, the "Melted Snowman" die.

I bought this because it reminded me of a Christmas globe I bought my hubs a long time ago when we were first married.  It's a plastic snowglobe called "the incredible melting snowman".  All it is is a snowglobe with water in it with a nose, eyes, buttons and a hat floating around.  He still has it and I set it out every year.  What can I say, we're a "puny" kind of couple.  hahaha

So here is my version of the melting snowman on my card:
It's all dies except for the sentiment, which is by Fiskers and the scarf is cut from paper stamped with the plaid stamp by Catherine Pooler in Catherine Pooler ink.  I don't remember who the stitched snow hills are by.  I really need to spend about 3-4 days re-organizing and labeling all of my stamps and dies.  I need to get in the habit of doing it when I get new ones.

Now stop over at the CAS Christmas Card Challenge blog and see what all the other ladies on the team have created for this month's Snowman theme.  They are so fabulous and fun, the cards AND the ladies!  Then, play along with us and get some snowmen cards created for your Christmas stash, remember to keep it CAS (clean and simple)!

Card Supplies:
STAMPS: Sentiment "Winter Wishes" set (Fiskars); Plaid stamp (Catherine Pooler)
PAPER: Neenah solar white cardstock; White glitter paper (Recollections); Midnight (Catherine Pooler); Orange from stash; Chocolate (Catherine Pooler).
INK: Rockin' Red (Catherine Pooler).
EXTRAS: Melted Snowman Die set (Paper Smooches); Stitched hills (maybe Spellbinders).

4CC #401 ATG and Celebrate Women Twist

It's Thursday, Y'ALL!
<insert southern drawl)

WOW, the week went way too darn fast! LOL

It's time for another challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks all ready!

Leanne is our hostess and she is requesting
we celebrate women!
Mothers Day in North America is May 13th, just 10 Days away!  So, I decided to make a Mother's Day card.  Some of the Hubs' colleagues sometimes request Mom cards from me so I made a couple extra.  I made my background using a layered oxide technique shown by Jennifer McGuire on her blog.  She has such amazing talent and has so many great tutorials that she shares.  They are great for a boost of creativity when you're lacking and I have been lacking lately.  First, I inked up an entire piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.  (Now I need some oxide reinkers because I didn't get them before <sigh>). I gave it a quick dry then stamped the background stamp, Doodle Garden by Catherine Pooler Designs onto it using Abandon Coral Oxide ink.  It's a little more vibrant than it looks in the photo.  I had a time getting a good photo of it, even with my manual settings.  Anyway, when it was dry, I smoothed on some Tim Holtz Distress Glaze which gave it a little glossy feel and a little protection too. The heart was cut from Abandon Coral Oxide inked cardstock and the sentiment is also Abandon Coral.

So be sure and stop by the Hen House and see the rest of my fellow Chicks' projects, all oh so pretty!  Leave them some blog love cause they love comments too!  Then get inky and play with us, either with ATG or play the twist and Celebrate Women with us!

Stamp Supplies:
STAMPS: Doodle Garden (Catherine Pooler Designs); Sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 4 (WPlus9).
PAPER: Neenah Solar White cardstock 80 and 110 lb(cardbase); Vellum (my stash).
INK: Peacock Feathers and Abandon Coral Distress Oxides (Tim Holtz).
EXTRAS:  Mom word die (Lil' Inkers Designs); Label die (Lil' Inker Designs); Wonky Stitched Rectangle die (Stamplorations). Sequin from stash.

4CC#400 Less Is More/CAS Twist

Happy Thursday!

It's time for a new challengeat

Lori is our hostess this week
and
it's our 400th challenge!

Lori is looking for a Clean and Simple Twist ---

For my card I decided to pull out a NBUS die I've had for a while now, the stitched kite by Lawn Fawn.  The kite and bows were cut from some cardstock inked with Picked Raspberry and then stenciled with stars.  The sun I cut from gold cardstock and  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and embossed with gold emboss powder.

Stop by the Hen House and check out the rest of the chick's projects, and give a thank you to our Guest Designer, Helen for her fabulous projects this month!  Then, share your own creation with us, since we are always Anything Goes and even give our twist challenge, CAS, a try!

4CC# 398-Raining Cats N' Dogs Twist

Happy Thursday!

It's time once again for a new challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks.

Boy, this week really flew by!

I'm hostess this week!

Since it's April and spring and it usually rain alots in Aprill,
I have chosen the Twist of Raining Cats N' Dogs!

My card is about 65% what I wanted it to be.  I haven't been in my craft room all week due to us doing some small renovation and redecorating in our house.  So, today I finally got in there.  I knew what I wanted to do, and I had my card about 80% done and then disaster!  UGH!  It just did not work out at all! I wanted to cry sooo bad and give up, BUT, I persevered and here is the better version.  The other one went to the shredder.  I will also say our renovations are going about as well as that original card did. LOL I need a vacation badly, just sayin'.

Be sure and stop by the Hen House and check out all the other Chicks' projects, including our April Guest Designer, Helen.  Then, come play along with us this week, play the twist or not.  We love seeing what you create!

Card Supplies:
Stamps: Cat - (Tim Holtz); Umbrella - (Taylored Expressions); Sentiment - "Rainy Days"(Pretty Pink Posh)
Paper: Watercolor paper (Strathmore); White cardstock (Neenah 110 lb); Silver mirror cardstock; Patterned Paper (My Favorite Things)
Ink: Midnight and Something Blue (Catherine Pooler Ink); Zig Realbrush watercolor pens; Copics.
Extras: Stitched clouds (Lawn Fawn); Wonky stitched rectangle (Stamplorations); Cat die (Tim Holtz); Umbrella die (Taylored Expressions); Clear Droplets (Pretty Pink Posh).

4CC #397 ATG + Flower Twist

Good Morning, Thursday!

Boy this week just flew by!

It's already time for a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

We are always an "anything goes challenge",
but every week we also offer a twist option to the challenge
for you to try or not, your choice.

Leanne is our hostess this week
and
she has chosen the twist of "Flowers".

Here is my card, full of flowers ---
My week has been hectic but, unfortunately not  very crafty yet.  We've been ripping up carpet, laying tile, painting door frames/moulding, moving things around, getting some new decor.  I guess you could say we've taken "spring cleaning" to a whole new level this year.  LOL . We have family coming to visit next week so we have a deadline to get these things finished.  However, I feel like the mess is multiplying, not decreasing and I'm sooo exhausted! If that weren't enough, we are finally getting new soffits and gutters today, which were delayed from last fall. I know it will look a lot better in a few days but it's like the list lengthens everyday.  I told my teamies I'd share pics so that will be in a post coming soon.  I won't hijack this one.  So, check back in a few days.

Now, please stop by the Hen House and see the rest of the Design Chicks' projects and visit their blogs and leave them blog love.  Then, why not get inky and join us this week, either ATG or play along with our Flower twist!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Card Details:
STAMPS: Flashy Florals-(My Favorite Things); Sentiment-Big Greetings (My Favorite Things).
PAPER: White cardstock - Neenah 110 lb.
INK: Smoky Slate, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Soft Sky (Stampin' Up)
EXTRAS: Inside/Out Stitched Senitment Strip die (My Favorite Things); clear gems; Clear Wink of Stella.

I'm entering my card in the following challenges:

CAS Christmas Card Challenge - April 2018

Good Afternoon
and
Happy April!

It's time for a new monthly challenge
at
CAS Christmas!

Bonnie is our host this month
and
she has chosen ---
I have to admit, for some reason, this one stumped me.  Maybe because I'm not used to making Christmas cards before Sept/Oct or because I don't have but maybe two ornament stamps or dies.  It could also be my mojo was a no-go or a combo of all of the above.  Yet, here it is!  LOL

I used some background paper I had already made with watercolor and cling wrap with some added pearlized Glimmer Mist on top.  It has a slight sheen to it, but hard to see in the photo.

Once I cut out my ornament, I wiped it with my embossing buddy, taped my Tim Holtz Holiday Knit stencil down and applied Versamark through the stencil.  Then, I embossed it with WOW white emboss powder.  I have been trying to use up backgrounds already made or cut from dies and I used one from Papertrey Ink.  Lastly, I cut the sentiment from gold cardstock and added gold string to the ornament.

Stop by the CAS Christmas Card Challenge blog and check out the rest of the Designers' projects.  Then, play along with us and increase your Christmas card stash. You have until April 24th!  It may be spring outdoors, but it can be Christmas in your craft room all year long!

I'm entering my card in the following Challenges:

Card Details:
STAMPS: None
PAPER: Neenah white cardstock, 80 lb and 110 lb; Gold foil cardstock by Stampin' Up; Strathmore Watercolor paper, 140 lb.
INK: Versamark; Watercolors
EXTRASOrnament Nesting Die by Spellbinders; Stencil - Holiday Knit by Tim Holtz; Center Stage Cover Up Die - Papertrey Ink; Noel die by Spellbinders; Gold string by Stampin' Up.

CAS Christmas Blessings!
