Krafty Chicks Challenge #526 - All Occasions

Good Morning!
It's time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge today and I'm your host.  I normally host the Christmas challenge, but I had surgery earlier in the month and so Lori and I switched hosting.  Today is our All Occassions challenge.  That means birthday, get well, thank you, sympathy, etc.

I created this card for my Stamp Nation penpal.  I've had this stamp by Lil' Inker Designs for a while and finally got around to coloring it.  I love all those kitties.  I chose a rainbow color scheme for them and then left all the accessories white.

Please stop by the Hen House and check out Leanne, Lori and Robyn's projects.  It's Robyn's last week with us so make sure and give her some blog love!  Then come share an All Occasion card with us this week!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #525 - CAS (Clean and Simple)

Good Morning!

I've been ahead everyday this week.  I have to keep reminding myself today is Thursday, not Friday!  Guess it's wishful thinking.  I've been discombobulated for a week.  I'm blaming it on "post-surgical brain". That's a thing, right? LOL

Yet, because it is Thursday it's time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

My card is all stamping today.  Last month's Stamp Nation Penpal theme was CAS so this fit both CAS bills.

Please stop by the Hen House and see the rest of the team's projects.  Then come play with us and share a Clean and Simple card with us!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #524 - Christmas

Hello there!  I cannot believe it's already Thursday.

First a holiday on Monday and then I had surgery on Tuesday so I'm all kinds of turned around on my days!

Yet since it IS Thursday, it's time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

I had some leftover background of the shaving cream technique backgrounds I used last month in another challenge.  So I cut out trees for this week's challenge.  I place them on a sponged blue background with a couple stitched die cut snow hills framed in a wonky stitched rectangle frame.  Then all of that was adhered to a circle background stamp by Hero Arts stamped in Twilight ink from Catherine Pooler Inks.  The sentiment is also from Hero arts and inked in Something Blue CP ink.  I added some clear sequins from Crater Lake sequins by Catherine Pooler.

Stop by the Hen House and see Leanne and Lori's projects as well as our Guest Designer, Robyn's.  Then come make some Christmas cards.  Christmas is inching closer and closer!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #523 - Stamp Act

Hello!  It's Thursday once again!  It's also the first Thursday of September.  Time for our Stamp Act challenge at Krafty Chicks with Leanne as our hostess.

I used the multi layer stamp set, Vineyard, a Hero Arts Color Layering Heroscape set for my card today.  It was really fun playing around with the set.  I stamped about six different color combos with it to see what I liked best.  Everything on here came with the set --- background, trees, buildings, balloons, sentiment.  It's really a cool set.

Please check out the other Chicks' projects at the Hen House and welcome our September Guest Designer, Robyn.  Give her a warm welcome!  Then, come play along with us, just remember this week you must have stamping on your card.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #522 - All Occasions

Hello Thursday!

I've been quite discombobulated this week and I cannot believe it's already Thursday.  I recently reorganized my craft room with some new furniture so been cleaning out a bit as I go as well.  And I just learned this week I have to have some knee surgery in two weeks so the hubs and I are trying to get ready for that.  I 've been hobbling around for two months and just got the diagnosis of a torn meniscus. While I'm glad to know what's wrong and be pain free very soon, I'm not looking forward to surgery.  At least the surgeon promises me my recovery will only be a week or two and no bulky brace or crutches.

So, it's been a hectic time.  Anyway, let me get to business at hand ---- the new challenge is up at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

I made another slimline card using another background I made by ink swiping.  I sent this to my younger brother for his birthday in July.  He lives near the beach in SC so I thought it was appropriate.  I stamped everything in Midnight ink for a silhouette effect.  The compass image I stamped off and then stamped on my background to get a fainter look.

This is our last challenge for August so be sure and check out my fellow teammates' projects and our Guest Designer, Michele.  It's her last week.  We've been thrilled to have her guesting with us with her fabulous cardmaking style.  Come play along with us too!

Keeping Christmas Blog Hop August 2020

Good Morning!

It's August 25th!

It's time for the Keeping Christmas Blog Hop.

Four months until Christmas!  WOW!

I've been reorganizing my craft room this month.  I discovered I have A LOT of paper!  Not just printed paper pads but handmade backgrounds as well.  So, I decided I'd start trying to pare down this stash of mine.  So today's cards are made with background papers I created a long time ago.  They were created with the shaving cream technique.  I took some tree dies and stamps by My Favorite Things and created some bright and cheery cards.

Please hop through the list below and see what the rest of the Team has created this month for Christmas inspiration.  If you haven't created any Christmas cards yet, it's going to be here before we know it!

Watercolor Beach

Good evening!

It's been a while again since I posted more than my DT cards.  I have been doing some coloring and watercoloring and stamping, just haven't turned things into cards yet.  This card, I watercolored the image about a week or so ago and it has been sitting on my table waiting.  So I wanted to enter it in the CAS Mixup.  Tomorrow is the last day to enter so I'm almost in the eleventh hour.

I decided to jazz it up with a bright yellow cardbase that I scored some lines into about mid-way down just for a little added interest.  I also mounted the watercolored image on some bright blue cardstock for contrast.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #521 - CAS (Clean & Simple)

I know summer is on its last legs but I've had my summer stamps sitting on my table wanting a little more love and use.  So for today's CAS challenge I decided to do a beach card.  Over at CAS Mixup their challenge this month is Beach watercolor.  So this card is doing double duty.  I took some Catherine Pooler dye inks with some water and a brush and created the background.  I took a wave emboss folder and embossed just the water part of the background.  Then, I cut the Summertime die into it.  I cut it again in white cardstock to provide a white border for the colored inlaid words.  Then, I took the folder with a small hammer and "tapped" the folder on the cardbase to create some waves to match the watercolored panel.

I stamped the coconut, umbrella and straw with dye ink and then spritzed with water before stamping.  Then die cut and set on the corner.  There you have it - clean and simple.
The Hen House is full with more projects from the Design Team.  Go check them out.  Then come play in our CAS challenge.

Card Supplies:
Stamps: Coconut, umbreall - Summer Lovin' by Catherine Pooler Designs.
Paper: White cardstock - Neenah Solar 110 lb; Watercolor paper - Strathmore.
Ink: Fiesta Blue, Sand Castle, Over Coffee, Coral Cabana (Catherine Pooler Inks).
Extras: Waves emboss folder (Stampin' Up); Summertime Die (Simon Says Stamp); Coconut, straw and umbrella dies (Catherine Pooler Designs).

Krafty Chicks Challenge #520 - Christmas

Wowza!  Just about the middle of August!
Where is time going?

Anyhoo, it's Thursday AGAIN already!

Time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge and this week I'm hosting.

This gnome die by Simon Says has been in my NBUS since before Easter and I decided to finally use him.  I created the background using a heart stencil by Catherine Pooler Designs.  I inked it up in Rockin' Red ink (CP Inks).  Then, I stamped snowflakes in white pigment ink on top and set aside to dry while I die cut my gnome and card layers.  The back layer is stamped in Fiesta Blue with the sweater background stamp by My Favorite Things.  I inked up some Fiesta Blue on white cardstock to cut out a second layer of gnome pieces.  I finished off the card with some Nuvo crystal drops and sequin snowflakes.

Come to the Hen House and see what Leanne, Lori and our Guest Designer, Michele have made this week.  Then get inky and create some Christmas cards.  There's only 17-1/2 weeks left before Christmas, ya'll!  Time's a flying even in a pandemic.

Card Supplies:
Stamps:Sentiment - Christmas Tug of War (Stamping Bella); Snowflakes - Making Spirits Bright and Chillin' Snowflakes sets (Catherine Pooler Designs), Sweater background stamp (My Favorite Things).
Paper: White cardstock - Neenah Solar 110 lb; White glitter paper (Recollections).
Ink: Rockin' Red, Fiesta Blue, Midnight - Catherine Pooler Inks. Unicorn white pigment ink (Hero Arts).

Krafty Chicks Challenge #518 - Anything Goes

Hello!

Can you believe July will be over tomorrow?  I'm not sure where the month went.  At any rate, today is the 5th Thursday and so that means an Anything Goes challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

This is a card I created for a PenPal at StampNation.  I couldn't wait to share it here as my DT card as well.  The sun is a stencil ink blended with Limoncello ink. I also inked up some scrap cardstock to cut out for the center of the sun with a small circle die to bump up.  I tried to emulate a window with the window die and woodgrain emboss folder on the background.  The sentiment, coffee cup, beans, vase and flower are all various stamps by Catherine Pooler Designs(see below).

Stop by our Hen House and see the rest of the design team's ATG projects and give a final crafty hello to Helene as this is her last week with us.  It's been such a joy to have her with us!  Then come play along with us and share whatever creation you want with us.  We love seeing your creativity and being inspired by you!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #517 - All Occasions

Good Morning!

It's time for another challenge at Krafty Chicks today.  Lori is our hostess this week and it's our All Occasions challenge.

This little gnome guy, from Stamping Bella, I just adore.  I've had him for awhile and never inked him up until now.  I really love how this turned out.  I did double duty for this card.  I made it for this challenge and for my June Penpal at StampNation.  We were to send a "hello" card of one of our favorite places in our house.  Mine is a porch swing that was my dad's. So I told my penpal a little story about it.

Storytime: Growing up we always had a porch swing and it was my dad's favorite place to be every evening, particularly in the warm months.  I would sit with him and chat and listen to the birds and frogs and watch the deer eat his garden. LOL  We would joke and call it "Jerry's Deer Diner".  Later years, my boys would swing with him and some of the time he sported a big grey beard like this gnome. Now, one of his swings is at my home and when I sit in it, I remember him and even though he's gone from this world, we still have a chat.

Be sure and stop by the Hen House to see Leanne and Lori's projects and also our Guest Designer's, Helene. Then come play along with us in our All Occasions Challenge.

Card Supplies:
Stamps: Image and sentiment - Stamping Bella.
Paper: Bright blue cardstock - Bazzill; White cardbase - Neenah Solar white.
Ink: Fiesta Blue, Midnight - Catherine Pooler Inks; Copics.
Extras: Trellis cover plate - Catherine Pooler Designs; Cloud stencil - My Favorite Things; Oval dies - Ellen Hutson.

Crafty Friend

Happy Sunday!

Boy is it a scorcher here in central NC! WHEW! 😓. Being outside today is NOT an option since we have a heat advisory, so trying to catch up on some posting and finishing up some crafty projects.  With that said, here is my first attempt at a slimline card.  I have to say it has to be one of my all time favorite cards I've ever made!

This card was specifically created for my fellow crafty friend, Bonnie Klass, for her birthday last week.  I wish I could have given it to her in person and we had gotten to craft together for her birthday, but --- pandemic.  So my hubs just dropped it on her doorstep, rang the bell and left.

I first created the background using distress oxide inks by just swiping them randomly along the cardstock.  This was a technique from the Online Classes May Card Camp 2.  I just love how it turned out.  I had so much fun with this technique, I went a little overboard and created about 10 other backgrounds (another post coming) trying different colors and regular distress inks and other inks.

This background with the Distress Oxides I really love because it is soft but striking on a slimline panel cut with a stitched slimline die by Pinkfresh.

The crafty cup is by Studio Katia, the macaroons by Heffy Doodle and the paint palette, Paper Sweeties.  All were colored using Copics and Spectrum Noir alcohol pens. The "crafty" word die is and the stamped sentiments are both Catherine Pooler Designs stamped in Something Blue ink by Catherine Pooler Inks.  I added some Nuvo shimmer to the macaroon icing and the brush tips.  I finished off the card by stamping a Happy Birthday sentiment inside with a few other colored macaroons.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #516 - CAS

Good Morning!

Today is Thursday and time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.  Leanne is our hostess this week for our CAS challenge.

I used an old stamp from DRS Designs.  I think those "chick" flowers are so adorable and right up our alley at Krafty Chicks! 😉. I had a lot of fun coloring them with Copics.  I spent the afternoon sitting out on our patio in my new "egg" chair and it was sooo nice!  I can now have both of best worlds, a very comfy place to sit outside and do some coloring at the same time.

Check out my fellow Design Chicks' projects over at the Hen House. Then why not join for some crafty time.

KCC #515 - Christmas

Hello!

It's Thursday!

This week has zipped by way too fast!  Of course, I also kept thinking Tuesday was Wednesday so maybe that's why.  Anyway, it's time for a new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.

This week is our Christmas challenge and I'm the host.

I'm in a rainbow mode right now and found this background in my stash.  And I've been trying to do the 30 Day Coloring Challenge this month too.  So, I colored these cute geometric Santas by Hero Arts with Copics to match my rainbow background.  You can't tell, but I used my Nuvo glitter pen on their hats and beards.  I backed it all on some geometric patterned paper by Catherine Pooler Designs.

Be sure and stop by the Hen House to see Leanne and Lori's projects and also our Guest Designer's, Helene. Then come play along with us.

KCC #514 - Stamp Act

Good Morning!

Thursday sure comes quickly these days!  It's been a very lazy week here for me.  Haven't felt up to par the past few days.  I have polycystic kidney disease and am more susceptible to chronic UTIs.  So a doc visit I probably be making to get an antibiotic before the holiday weekend.  Yay!  Fun, fun.

However, what is FUN right now is the new challenge at Krafty Chicks Challenge.  Leanne is our hostess.

(Must have a stamped image)

My stamped card has mostly stamping on it.  I created a masculine card for the Hubs for our 30th wedding anniversary last month.  I Googled it and the color for 30th anniversary is green and the traditional gem is pearl.  So I made a green card and used Perfect Pearls on part of the stamped background.

Did you also know that there are 10,950 days in 30 years?? 262,080 hours, 15,724,800 minutes and 943,488,000 seconds.  That's A LOT of TIME! But there's no one else I would have wanted to spend ALL THAT TIME with than my hubby. 😁

Go by the Hen House and see Leanne and Lori's projects and also our Guest Designer's, Helene. Helene is guesting with us again for July.  Yay!  Then come play along with us.
