Pool Summer

Hello there!

It's Thursday, almost Friday.  I thought today was Friday all day and actually I'm glad to have another day before the weekend. I have things to get done so I can enjoy the weekend.

I cannot believe I've been in my craft room several days each of the past two weeks. That's a record for me.  I seem to be creating a new routine - gardening in the mornings, crafting in the afternoon, at least a couple days each week.

I planted a vegetable and herb garden and I'm trying to get outside in the mornings while it's still pleasant to tend to everything.  This is my fourth attempt in 20 years at a veggie garden. So far, this one seems the best.  Growing up, my parents had a huge garden every summer.  Some years their bounty was so large that my preacher dad passed out veggies to his parishoners after church on many Sundays. And our kitchen was always steamy with my mom canning and pickling everything! We also used to joke my dad had a garden just for the deer and we called it "Jerry's Place".  Word got around in the deer world. LOL. I don't have as much yard as they did, and I'm glad. That was a lot of work.  Two raised beds and several  pots is enough for me.  So far, everything is thriving.

Anyway, I digress.  You're here to see my card. So here it is:

More of the Sea Foam stencil from Waffle Flower.  This time I turned it into a pool.  I added a large yellow umbrella, a stencil/die combo also from Waffle Flower.  It is inked up in Limoncello (Catherine Pooler). The pool is actually a pond die by Lawn Fawn as is the wavy background.  The beach ball I've had for forever and cannot remember whose it is.  I finished the card with the sentiment stamped directly on the background piece in the same Something Borrowed blue (Catherine  Pooler Inks) as the pool.

I've been trying to play in the Color Hues challenge for a long time and finally made it.

For Following Challenges:

Card Supplies:
Stamps: Sentiment - Pool Piggies (Gerda Steiner).
Paper: Neenah 110# Solar White
Ink: Something Blue and Limoncello (Catherine Pooler Inks).
Extras: Sea Foam Stencil (Waffle Flower); Umbrella Die/Stencil combo(Waffle Flower); Pond/Pool die (Lawn Fawn); Wavy cover plate die (Lawn Fawn).

I'm glad you stopped by my blog.
Have a great day! 💖

I hope it is for you wherever you are!

A quick post to share a fun card I made for Just Us Girls Challenge.

Rainbow Wishes

TGIF!

Happy Friday!

A cheerful bright card to start off the weekend.

I've been working through some of my background stash and since I had these Confetti foiled backgrounds on my table, I went to cutting some apart with die cuts.  This one I used an old large balloon die from Ellen Hutson.  The sentiment is a foiled sentiment by Pinkfresh Studio. And, of course, the foiled background used on the balloon is Hooray for Confetti foiled die.  I also inked up the cardfront with the Hooray for Confetti background stamp and embossed in white for some slight texture.

Grim Birthday

Welcome back!

My second card for tonight...

I had a lot of fun putting this little grim reaper together.  I liked it so much I cut about 6 of them at least.   The background I had in my stash along with about 10 others I had foiled a month or so ago.  And while it took me a while to find an appropriate sentiment to go with that little grim celebrator that one was my success.  Don't know why, but I neglected to purchase the sentiment set that pairs with the Grim Reaper die (already remedied that 😉).  The die is made so his cloak swings, but I decided to make him wobble instead (see video below).

Berry Sunshine

 Good Evening, Thursday!

Hope you're having a good week.  I've been busy catching up on some crafting in between planting a veggie garden and taking care of everything on the homefront while the Hubs is still gaining strength back from elbow surgery. If that wasn't enough for him, he  is now also dealing with back pain and discovery of having a herniated disc in his low back.  So, looks like I'm going to be quite busy all summer while he heals.

So I'm trying to forge a new routine that will get the important things done and me a little more crafty therapy in between!

My first post tonight is a late penpal card using the skecth from Sunday Stamps challenge this fortnight.

I used various stamp sets from Catherine Pooler for my card - Rise and Shine (senitment); Coffee Shop (coffee cup); Sentimental Fruit and I Pick You (all the fruit); and  Great Start patterned paper.  I inked everything up in CP Inks - Rouge, Juniper Mist, Eucalyptus, and Shea Butter.

Blue Metallic Birthday

 Good Evening!

Happy June!

I have a birthday card tonight to share.

I had these embossed flowers, Delicate Garden, by Altenew, sitting in my UFO pile and paired it with the geometric foiled background (Pinkfresh Studio) for a quick birthday card.

Blessings of Spring

My second card for Cupcake Inspirations - - -

I used the Carrot Bouquet stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs for this card.  I stamped them on watercolor paper and colored them with my Zig watercolor brush pens.  I love how vibrant the colors came out.  I used a piece of the same watercolor background as I did for the previous card as a side border here.  Then I used the Floral & Diamond Tiles cover plate by Pinkfresh Studios for the rest of the background. I embossed my sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps onto black cardstock so it would pop on top of the white background.

Floral Mom

TGIF!

Happy Weekend!

I have a couple posts to share and just barely squeaking into a challenge before it closes (again)! I took some images to color while on vacation and these posts are a couple of them.  I almost forgot (AGAIN) that I had colored them for a specific challenge, Cupcake Inspirations, which closes tonight.

So this is card one.  The image is a digital stamp that I colored with my Zig watercolor brush pens.  I had a watercolor background with the same colors and so I clipped a bit of it off for the bottom border along with the decorative border.  I kept the sentiment, from Picket Fence Studios, on white and bumped it up.

Flower Smiles

 Good morning!

Nothing like forgetting you have a post still in draft form hours before a challenge you were entering closes.  That's what happens when you've been on vacation and then playing catch up in real life.  Doesn't help that I keep thinking it's a day earlier than it really is. Maybe I need another trip? 🤔 LOL

So now here it is, just in time.

I recently broke down and got the postage collage stamp and die from Waffle Flower and the Spring floral coordinating stencil set. I'm glad I did. Super easy and the result is beautiful whatever color scheme you choose.

Happy National Nurses Week!

 Happy Sunday!

Happy National Nurses Week!

I'm reposting today.  Today is the beginning of National Nurses Week so I'm resharing a card I made probably two years ago to celebrate my "hero in scrubs", my hubs, Dave.  During the pandemic healthcare workers were praised for their work and sacrifice and care.  Unfortunately now, some now seem to forget that in times of physical and/or mental pain those caring for us in healthcare settings are actually trying to help us.  And in a world full of physical pain and strife, let's give a little more appreciation for those committed to trying to heal.

It's Your Day

Another birthday card tonight.  Our son, Ben, our youngest, turned 30 this month and this is his card I made.  I always try to make cards geared towards my kids' interests in some way.  Ben is always listening to music and when he got into college and since then, he has introduced me to many different musicians and bands I may not have listened to on my own.

So, I thought the record dies I purchased a bit ago from Concord and 9th were perfect for a card for him. I paired them with a stamped background using the background stamp, On Staff, by Catherine Pooler Designs.

Blowin' Birthday Wishes

How celebratory is this card? I love how it turned out.  The background is an ink swiped background with an overlay of a clear plastic gold dot cardstock.  The party blowers are another new purchase from Honey Bee Stamps, Party Blowers layered dies. The colors from the Mood Board at Inkpirational Challenges inspired my card and I thought my ink swiped background was perfect. Then, I worked off that for my party blower colors.

I used Tim Holtz Metallic Confections cardstock for the blower layers. I had some teal cardstock on my table that went well with everything and I cut the Happy Birthday die, also from Honey Bee Stamps out of gold mirror cardstock.

I just think it's such a fun birthday card.  I made it for my niece who just turned 10.

Ice Cream First

 Good Evening!

Hope you've had a nice weekend wherever you are.  Presently, the Hubs and I are on a mini vacation at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.  The hubs had elbow surgery 2-1/2 weeks ago and has had to be off from work for three weeks.  He has a long recovery of three months before he can use his arm substantially.  After just a week off he got very antsy so we decided a getaway for both of us to rest and relax was in order.  While I still have to do a bit of the heavy stuff for both of us, even on vaca, it's still nice to chill away from home.  Before we left I had several cards backing up in my que for sharing again. Having a hubs with one good arm really is cramping my style!  HAHAHA

I recently got the Cupcakes & More die set by Honey Bee Stamps and wanted to play around with them.  I had some more smooshed backgrounds in my stash in yellow and pink and so I think they worked well with the dies.  I also had a stenciled background already using the Bear Grass stencil by Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) that matched my pink ice cream.  I bumped up my ice cream cone on an embossed layer with a scalloped oval frame on top.  The sentiment is from the stamp set, First Ice Cream by CPD.  I finished off the card with a few little candy confetti pieces by Pretty Pink Posh.

Live Life In Full Bloom

Wow! Good Morning!

Don't know when I posted this early in the day. It's been a long time. I've had some cards I haven't shared for a while so I'm playing "catch up"!

This card was for a StampNation Penpal back in February. I still have a stash of handmade backgrounds that I'm slowly trying to use. This was one of them that I cut from the Nottingham Lace cover plate by Catherine Pooler.  The butterfly and flowers are from the Flourished Butterflies set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you return soon!

Daffodil Greetings

Good Evening!

While the saying is "April showers brings May flowers", I have flowers for April.

I used the Daffodils in Bloom stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs (CP Designs) for my card.  I stamped them in Lemon Sorbet, Creamsicle, Frosted and In The Park. I used a lovely matching patterned plaid from Easterpalooza pack (CP Designs) and cut the Greenhouse Gate cover plate out of vellum.  I also used the inside of the Framed Wings frame cut from vellum too.  The sentiment is from Gardeners Greetings stamp set stamped on a tag (Reverse Confetti) cut from Frosted cardstock.  Finished it off with some Crater Lake sequins.

Thank you for stopping by to see my craftiness.
Hope you come back soon!
