CAS Christmas August Challenge

Happy August Everyone!

It's a new month 

and so

it's a new Christmas Challenge 

at

CAS Christmas!

First, we have two new team members joining us from now on ---

Welcome Ladies!  

Hideko is our hostess this month.

She would like us to all focus on Trees for our CAS Christmas cards.  

Ok, I had the opposite problem this month that I had with snowmen --- I have trees galore!  I have a whole FOREST of tree stamps it seems!  hahahaha

I'm a little late with my post as the past couple weeks has been a little bit stressful for me healthwise.  Thankfully now it's all good!  I'M ALL GOOD (some may beg to differ on that at least my mind).  LOL

Anyway, since you've all been waiting with bated breath for my Christmas Tree card, here it is -----

I started out using a stenciled background from a tree stencil by Stamplorations.  I used the negative of the stencil after stenciling the positive side using Spruce dye ink by Catherine Pooler.  I cut a triangle out of the middle of the background to make my tree for this card.  I cut another triangle from adhesive backed craft foam to bump it up on top of the die, Oval Burst, by Avery Elle.  The sentiment is also from Stamplorations, which I stamped in the same Spruce dye ink.  The star is from a My Favorite Things Blueprint, but I don't remember which one and I cut it from silver foiled cardstock by Stampin' Up.

4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #414 Music Twist

Hello Blogland!

I've been a little MIA and have a couple late posts to share.

First off, 

4 Crafty Chicks has a new challenge going on hosted by Leanne!

4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #414 - Music Twist

I'm a little musically challenged, both crafty wise and musically-wise. I can carry a bit of a tune, but nothing like most of my family. LOL  Anyway,  my card is made with an old set from Taylored Expressions.  It was from one of their old monthly stamp kits, Instant Love, which came with the stamp set and coordinating dies. The music notes are Spellbinder dies with a heart stamp from the TE Instant Love set on top.

My niece's birthday is coming up and so I thought this would be a fun card to make for her.  I haven't made an interactive card in a very long time and it was a little out of my comfort zone but I it was a lot of fun.  I had been wanting to try out the Lawn Fawn slider dies I recently purchased.  It only took me two tries to get it right.  I even attempted a video to show the interaction <gasp>!

Since it is July, I decided to make some tropical Christmas cards.  I bought the most recent Stamp of Approval Collection, Tropically Yours, which was perfect for today.

4CC #412 Charmed Life Twist

Is it Thursday again already?

Well, then, it's time for another challenge

at

4 Crafty Chicks!

This week our hostess is Amy!

She is looking for charms for the twist.

I made two cards this week unintentionally at first.  After I made the one on the right, I decided to take the negative of the sentiment and make a card with it as well.  It actually all began with the background of the second card.  I had made it a while back out of alcohol inks and then embossed it.  I thought the sentiment "hugs" would look nice cut out of it.

I wanted to use a new background stamp (mesh), above, from My Favorite Things.  I think it complimented the textured word die well.  I added a little more interest by adding a gold shadow behind the letters. The heart charm is actually an old necklace charm I've had for years. So this will go to someone special as a token from my heart.  Ok, that sounds cheesier than it did in my head.  lol

After I finished the card above, I kept looking at the negative from the sentiment die and a left over piece of a first stamp attempt of the background mesh stamp and decided to make another card.  I thought the rose charm went perfectly with the background.
